We lost my dad this year who had been struggling with Parkinsons Disease. While we don't always know what we will encounter on this earth done of us wants to see a loved one suffer. Others of you have lost loved ones this year too and it is the first Christmas without them around. While I was looking through pictures of family and friends I could not believe how many people we have lost from this earth. However, in saying that I have so much comfort in knowing about eternity and meeting the King of Kings. I was at my work today and one of the ladies there had a special needs son whom she lost to MD. She shared how she went to church with her daughter's family in Des Moines Iowa and saw a little boy in a wheel chair who reminded her of her son. In that moment her husband prayed for that little boy and for his family. As tears welled up in her eyes I couldn't help remembering my niece and nephew and Debbie who have all passed in the last few years. So many memories and heartbreaks. My Dad, Jim Shultz, was very quite and peaceful. When my nephew passed we were at the florist and he quietly bought a rock with a picture of an angel on it for my sister. I saw him quietly give that to her when we returned home. A couple months before he passed I came to visit him at the nursing home. When I walked in he said, "Beverly was just here". Beverly was my niece who passed away in October of 2006. I think these are all gentle reminders for us to remember the people left behind. I am honored that I had a father who was so loving and caring. I miss you very much Dad. You will always be a great inspiration to me.

Oh by the way Cindy brought in crafts for our Christmas day and these are some of the ones that we all made. We had a great time putting them together. Cindy took this picture.

Life

<img border="0" height="200px" i$="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tVnlSbGgnmo/TgSu5AhJz1I/AAAAAAAAAKo/HZ1zbNfMeRk/s200/chanunif.bmp" width="181px" />Here is one of the guys that I am praying for. His name is Chandler. He is my son Steven's son who is almost 8 years old. He just had a new baby brother. My son and his wife were divorced when Chandler was very little. Steve and Chandler live about an hour from each other and it makes it very difficult for Steve to be there for him. I am praying for Steven to find a job without the hours he has so that he can spend more time with Chandler. Steve is a car salesman. So if you don't mind keep him in your prayers.

I am going through the bible in a year and todays reading is in Job. I love the book of Job because it is so interesting and invigurating to see how God is working in Job's life. I can't wait to read through this book to learn more. I better get busy the day is getting away from me.
I have been watching Twitter for a little bit today and just thinking about all these people and what their lives are like. Many are proffessional, Authors, Artists, Bloggers, Preachers, Politicians, and such. I am pretty interested in all that they throw out there for the most part. There is quite the difference between the night time tweeters and daytime tweeters. Sometimes in the day it is hard to keep up with everything. What I like about all of it is how much knowledge that you can pick up. How many people you can have pray for you. It doesn't just have to be in the rhelm of your close friends and family and your little church in Dubuque Iowa anymore, you have access to a lot of professional prayers out there. (I hope they don't mind)

Today I will be going to a place called the Freedom Center. There are a lot of Veterans from the local area that come to visit have coffee and do some wordwork thing or something to keep their mind occuppied. We are hoping to get some of the younger vets just coming home, in hopes to give them a support system so they don't shut down. We love these troops!

Praying for all the men out there who are leaders, Dad's, Politicians, you name it if you have important decisions to make there is someone out here praying for you along with all your other someones. May God Bless you All.

Prayer

I did some crazy stuff this weekend. I was feeling very out of sorts and decided to go to another church to see if I liked it. It was ok the people were very nice but I don't know(Sermon about Fathers). After I went there I ran over to the church that I use to go to for about 4 years. I stood outside the auditorium and just listened almost to the whole thing but not quite (About God's Mercy) After that I went home got online and listened to Dave Stone from Southeast Christian church. I have been struggling financially and have been crying out to God for answers. During that prayer time God gave me a vision of a women who looked to be from a 3rd world country, I think Africa with tattered clothes, no shoes, very thin, standing in the middle of a dirt road. I said ok God I get that I should and do appreciate all the opportunities that I have here in the United States. I need to be thanking you for the things that I have. While Dave was preaching he showed a video of a recent trip he had taken to Africa. There were two women who had both lost their husbands and have the AIDs virus. Each one talked about what they do for a living. One sold little fish and one sold french fries at night. I don't know if there is more to what God wants me to know or do about this vision so if any of you have any thoughts or prophetic insight please let me know.
Also during the sermon on Dad's at the one church I felt compelled to start a praying ministry online for the men. Men in general. I believe that men need us to be behind them to support them and help them to be confident. I am going to praying for Men, Men in leadership of countries, Men in leadership roles in churches and Men in leadership of their families and young men preparing as role models for their children.
So Men just know that today that there is a 54 year old woman in Dubuque Iowa sending prayers up on your behalf. May God Bless you and keep you. In Jesus Name, AMen If you are someone that wants to joing in this ministry please sign your name and keep your men in your prayers. That's it for today.

Dollar Store Crafts

This is my first Dollar store craft which cost approximately $6.00.

Hat: $1

Flowers: $1 per bunch x 3 but did not use all of them

Bunny: $1

Butterflies: $1

Four grocery bags to stuff the inside of the hat to make it firm/cardboard cut to the size of the hat/ a 3inch piece of ribbon I had laying around/and a small amount of hot glue (with a glue gun of course)

I had actually bought quite a few items unsure of what I wanted to add to this wreath.

I used the cardboard to make the wreath more sturdy other than that I think everyone knows how to make a wreath. Every day at some point I go through and read my favorite bloggers. It may take me an hour and a half. There are some great blogs to read out there. This may seem pretty normal for most people that they have this many things going on. Do we really need this much business in our lives. I question that because at study tonight we talked about the pursuit for God coming from us and not from Him. He wants us to pursue Him not the other way around. How will we ever be able to be in this type of relationship with our Heavenly Father if all we can do is work, go places, and read books? Before Dan gives me grief I will tell you that his book is awesome and I am looking forward to finishing it.

Wow, I am suprised at this post that I never posted. What a suprise! Things have changed since I first wrote this and I don't think any of my readers, Lynn, will even notice that I wrote this a year ago. My job status has and not for the better but some how some way God has brought me through it. I have been listening to some radio station fund raisers lately and they have a lot of good and helpful information about doing what God wants us to do and fully relying on Him. Now that's not suprising either but I must keep reminded myself daily of this message and not getting frustrated with the rest.

God Blessings to all,

Patty

Under Construction

I am trying to figure out how I want my blog to look and what I really want to talk about. Many have been held in it's grips but many have walked away. A dear family member recieved the news last week that she too has been attacked by the BIG "C". There is cancer in her lungs and cancer in her cervix. I can't imagine recieving that horrible news and all the sudden your world has changed. Your faith is still strong. Your relationship with God does not waiver. Because you know that God is so much bigger then the BIG "C
Deb is one of the most wonderful people that I know. Her heart is bigger than 100 hearts put altogether. She knows the right thing to say and the right time to do things. When she works she doesn't give 100% but she does give 125%. I don't really know a lot of people like her. She is willing to do anything for you at the drop of a hat. She teaches Sunday school to adult women. She drove a bus and took keenagers (adults past 50) on outings, field trips to many places. She puts others before herself always.
I lift Debbie and Don up before you today God to heal her. I don't expect anything less. You are an amazing God who has control of the Universe. Who can quiet storms, part water, turn a city into salt. I know that you can take away the big C from my wonderful friend Debbie. You can heal the hearts of the hurting and speak in a whisper that all can hear. I love you God with all my heart, my soul, my streangh. You are in charge of this and I pray in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ that you will heal Debbie Anderson. When she goes for the second opinion there will be no sign of cancer. It will not be the big C in her life but just a memory of how you healed her in a week. Thank you Jesus for dying on the cross for us and making our yoke easier on this earth. We do not deserve it but you have made it so. We love you and give you all the glory and praise. '
In Jesus Name,
AMEN! No Really, I am not kidding. These children have many more challenges than those that we have faced. I am amazed even more so now as a grandparent how these little ones pick up on everything. Why wouldn't we then give them everything such as a seed to plant so that their lives would be touched by the devine Creator and almighty God. When my grandaughter Gabby was very small maybe 3 I started to take her to church, Of course this was my opportunity to witness to her, so we would talk about Jesus. She just loved the song, "Jesus Lover of My Soul" so I would play it my car whenever she was with me. She new the words and sang along beautifully until almost always she would sing herself to sleep. One Christmas we were talking about Jesus being born and shortly after of course came Easter so we talked about Jesus dying on the cross. I forgot to mention to her that this happened quite some time ago so she was prepared to go after the Roman soldiers who killed him. Hmmm. There is so much to share and so little time. Get in what you can and then keep praying for the Power of God to make an impact on their lives.

Many Blessings,

Patty

About: Many Friends

I had a point to make about many friends and it appears that I probably lost that thought. I moved to Dubuque Iowa about 3 and a half years ago and am just starting to feel at home here. I miss my family back in Rockford but have so many opportunities here to become involved through ministries here. I am involved in a great biblestudy group on Wednesday nights learning about hearing God's voice. This time in study has proven to help me with my walk tremendously. There are about 8 women in the group and it is just a real comfort to me to know that I have something in the middle of my week to help me through spiritually. It has also helped me to focus more on Jesus through a process of quieting myself down, tuning into the voice of God and writing down mine and His communication with each other. It is wonderful. I need to spend more time with this and less time on facebook. Sorry FB but you take up too much of my God time. Okay I am not sorry. When I heard (saw) the word of the week I couldn't help but think about people who have to go through the pain of being diagnosed with breast cancer. The difficulty of having a breast removed and then permanently being without a piece of your body is frightening to me and I am sure millions of women and some men. It is my prayer this week that if you have been diagnosed there is a God who loves you and wants to be a part of your life helping you through this difficult time. For those of you who are blessed to be free of breast cancer like I am, my prayer is that you never have to deal with that issue in your life and you will be able to to enjoy your life to the fullest. She is my Aunt Steph. It is difficult to tell you about this special lady who has always been there for our family. She has shared numerous Christmases, Thanksgivings, Baby showers, bridal showers, and many womens retreats at Central Christian Church. It was always a joy to sit and visit with her and listen to her gently talk about the kids and grandkids. She had her son Andrew the same year that we had our boys. I remember her on Christmas day being in labor and how we all sat and watched her wondering when she would go to the hospital to have this little Christmas gift known to us today as Andrew David Christopher Noel Shultz. I remember talking to her about my divorce with my husband because she had been through a divorce as well. She had made crocheted ponchos for us one year, when we were younger, with varigated colors. I wore that to school almost every day. I loved it. When I graduated from High School in 1974 she gave me an address book. I don't remember what it had on the front but it was yellow and very useful. I used that book up until a couple of years ago when it finally fell apart after years of changes peoples names addresses, adding family members and birthdays. What I remember most about her is her laugh. There is no way to describe it. She was a great person and it was my privelage to be her niece. I know that she is in a great place now and celebrating with many close relatives and more importantly with our Lord Jesus Christ. I will miss you here but look forward to seeing her again in a wonderful place.

STEPHANIE L. Today we were talking about what role a parent plays in educating your children. When I was growing up there were six of us kids. I had an older brother Wayne, two older sisters Kathy and Cindy then two younger brothers, Jim and John. While I was going through school my parents would ask if my homework got done and if I said yeah that is all there was to it. I know that basicaly parenting is like that today, because my kids would tell me, "yeah" but I would sometimes say, "okay" and other times say, "let me see what you have left to do." What has always been frustrating to me is the children that learning comes easy to them, or does it? Do these kids have just a knack in how to learn or is the family structure so different that it makes it a more cohesive learning environment? I know that we are all different and that we all learn in different ways but how could I have made my way better. I think a lot of it is self-determination. I don't believe that we can blame our parents or education system on how well we learn things I do believe that we have to take a certain amount of responsibilty for ourselves but I haven't learned a way to instill that into the lives of anyone.

By the way the current stimulis package needs a lot of readjustments before it can pass through a vote. If we rush this one through where it stands currently we will be sorry for a very long time.

IF: Climbing

So some of you may be wondering where I have been. I can't help but think of little boys climbing trees when I hear that word. I hope that you enjoy this weeks picture.

IF Voices

It didn't take me long this week to know what I

would do for this weeks topic. As they finished the snowman the little sister wanted him to look like he was at a Christmas party so she gather her red and green balloons and some leftover blue curling ribbon to give the snowman his finishing touches. As day was getting ready to close the air became bitter cold and a strong breeze came up blowing the snowmans head off and one of the balloons came by just as a cloud was passing behind it. A cardinal interested in the snowman seems to be placed neatly on the cloud which now looks like a hat.

Friday Illustration (Balloon)

I am not sure of what I am doing yet as far as setting up this blog. My title picture is way to large and taking a picture of my art work was not as good as I would like it to be. I am enjoying looking at all the artist renditions of Balloon and other creations.
